Winners Announced in “TWENTY” Contest

The Quilt Alliance has announced the winners in its contest “TWENTY,” in honor of their 20th anniversary.  Ninety of these 20” square quilts were submitted by quilters from 24 states, plus Australia, Belgium, Canada, England and Spain.

The Grand Prize Winner was “Time for Tea” by Ann Bordeau, Dorry Emmer, Alice Helms, Cheryl Kotecki, Susan Mimken and Christina Strickland from Arden, North Carolina.  The Grand Prize Winner was chosen by professional quilters/designers Marianne Fons, Paula Nadelstern and Mark Lipinski, and the prize awarded was a HQ Sweet Sixteen machine quilting system.

The other award-winning quilts, determined by voting of  Quilt Alliance members, were 1st Place “Busy 20 Years @ QA (A Game of I Spy 20)” by Patricia Hobbs, 2nd Place “Oh to be Twenty Again!” by Nita Markos,  and 3rd Place “A.J.” by Maggi Gordon, Shahnaz Khan, Chad Lindsey, Ritchy McFadden, Michael Michalski, Michele Reisch, Eric Sciotto and Melanie Vaughan.  Information on the winning quilts is posted here, along with their photos.

What’s up next for these contest entries?  The contest was a fundraiser for the Quilt Alliance, and the quilts will be offered for auction on eBay beginning November 11, 2013.
