2014 AQS QuiltWeek Lancaster Show Accepting Entries

2014 AQS QuiltWeek Lancaster Show Accepting Entries

By Janelle Cahoon, Quiltcentric

The American Quilter’s Society will be accepting quilt entries for their QuiltWeek show in Lancaster, PA through November 6, 2013.  The dates of the show itself will be from March 12 – 15, 2014.

There are 6 different categories for entry this year under the general Bed Quilts or Wall Quilts designations.  Bed Quilts are defined as quilts designed for use on a bed and having a width of 60” to 110” and a length of 75” or more.  Wall Quilts are quilts made for display on a wall and having a width of 25” to 80” and a length of 25” or more.

Specific entry categories are:

  1. Bed Quilts – Hand Quilted
  2. Bed Quilts – Machine Quilted
  3. Wall Quilts – Hand Quilted
  4. Wall Quilts – Home Machine Quilted
  5. Wall Quilts – Longarm/Midarm Machine Quilted
  6. Wall Quilts – Modern

There is an entry limit of one quilt per category for each entrant, so while you could enter a quilt in Category 5 and another in Category 6, you couldn’t enter both quilts in Category 5.

See the full entry rules for the 2014 Lancaster quilt contest here.

The Best of Show quilt will win $10,000, and $3,500 each will be awarded to Best Bed Quilt, Best Hand Workmanship, Best Machine Workmanship, Best Longarm Workmanship, Best Modern and Best Wall Quilts.  In addition, each of the entry categories will have awards of $1,500 for 1st Place, $1,000 for 2nd Place and $750 for 3rd Place.

The show will be held at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, PA from March 12 – 15, 2014.

If you’re interested in learning more about the classes that will be offered during the show, those aren’t yet posted at the time I write this article, but will be on this page of the AQS website.

Don’t forget to let me know through the Contacts link (above) if your guild is having a show this year.  I’ll be happy to add it to my list of Shows in your state!
