Are you doing anything special this year for National Quilting Day?

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of this celebration of quilt-making and quilters; it originated in 1991 with a resolution by the National Quilting Association and is always held the third Saturday in March.

The NQA noted on their website that this special day for quilters ”gives us the opportunity to reflect with pride on the traditions of quilt-making and the contributions quilt-makers have made to their families and communities for generations.”

Among the ways quilters have celebrated National Quilting Day in past years have been quilt retreats or seminars, visits to quilt museums, sew-ins for charity or simply working on personal projects.

The NQA has at attractive free pattern available on their website, “Slash Attack” by Evelyn Young of LeRoy, Illinois. ( ) Maybe this pattern will inspire you this National Quilting Day!
