Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum Holds Juried Challenge

By Janelle Cahoon, Quiltcentric

Any quilter or fiber artist who’s ever wanted to have a solo exhibit should check out the rules for the “Evolutions 2014” juried challenge at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, because that’s just what the first prize winner will receive – a solo exhibit at the RMQM in 2015.

In addition, a number of the “Evolutions” entries will be exhibited at the museum from July 28 – Oct. 25, 2014.  Ribbons will also be awarded for first, second and third place winners.

“Evolution” is defined as a process of change, and the challenge is to create a quilt reflecting that.  The complete rules are available here ( )

The deadline is coming up fast, as no entries will be accepted after March 15, 2014, but if you have a quilt made after Jan. 1, 2012 that meets the criteria it can be entered.

Entries may be 2- or 3-dimensional and consist of at least 2 layers held together by some kind of stitching.  Minimum size allowed is 18” on any one side, and the maximum is 60” on any one side.  There is a limit of 3 entries per person, which are to be accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee of $35 per entry for RMQM members and $55 per entry for non-members.  Entry information is available online through the RMQM website.  ( )

The deadline for this challenge is March 15, 2014.
