Butterfly Quilts Exhibited at Texas Quilt Museum

By Janelle Cahoon, Quiltcentric

Last weekend my husband and I drove out to the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange to see the “Butterflies and Their Beautiful Kin” exhibit, which continues through June 29, 2014.

As usual, the quilts were wonderful, representing a range from simple and graphic to amazingly complex, using a wide range of materials and techniques. I had a great time at this exhibit, examining the quilts up close and stepping back to appreciate them from farther away. I spent some time on the benches enjoying a couple of my favorites from among the more than 30 on display.

I just love this museum, which is so light and bright and has the old exposed brick contrasting with the quilts. If you’d like to read more about the Museum itself, you might want to read my first article about it here. (http://www.quiltcentric.com/2012/08/08/a-visit-to-the-texas-quilt-museum/ )

I think any quilt lover would enjoy their museum visit as much as I did, so if you’re able to get to La Grange you should stop by – no matter what the current exhibit you can be sure it’ll be both beautiful and inspiring!
