RMQM “MANifestations” Exhibit Accepting Entries

The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum  will begin accepting entries on October 1, 2013 for “MANifestations,” its 12th biennial exhibit of quilts made by men.  The entry period continues through October 31st.  The exhibit itself will run from January 30 through April 26, 2014.

New York Beauty Quilts at San José Quilt Museum

Approximately 30 stunning New York Beauty quilts are on display in a new exhibition at the San José Museum of Quilts and Textiles, Collecting New York Beauty Quilts:  Bill Volckening’s Passion, running from now through Oct. 27, 2013.  If you have the chance to attend, you should – these quilts are the kind of masterpieces we very rarely get to see in person.

National Quilt Museum Opens Exhibit of Civil War Period Quilts

New Textile Gallery at Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum celebrates the opening of its new 7,000 square foot textile art gallery with a campus-wide exhibition Spun:  Adventures in Textiles which takes a wide-ranging look at textiles, from pre-Columbian weavings to Navajo blankets to an examination of clothing in art and photography, on view May 19 – September 22, 2013.

Quilt Museum Faces Funding Crisis

The latest news from the San José  Museum of Quilts and Textiles is dire.  Marie Strait, President of the Board of Directors, has sent out a letter saying that if the museum can’t raise $80,000 for operating costs by March 31st the museum will be forced to close.  Her letter can be found here.

New Museum Opens in Georgia

Good news for quilters in the Southeast!  The new Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum held its grand opening Sept. 15th at 306 Bradley Street in Carrollton, Georgia.  As the only quilt museum in the Southeastern U.S., the museum plans to focus not only on quilts from Georgia, but throughout the region.
